Jewelry Care
We put a lot of consideration into the materials we use. Our pieces are made to withstand real life, and with proper jewelry cleaning, they will continue to shine.
Keep your jewelry looking its best with these tips and tricks.
Caring for your silver jewelry
When not wearing your silver bracelets, beads, earrings, or rings, we recommend that you store your jewelry separately in small cloth bags, or even better in acid-free, airtight plastic bags or boxes. This will help you to avoid, as far as possible, unnecessary scratches and too rapid oxidation. You can also store them in our Trollbeads stacking jewelry case.
If you wear silver beads on your gold chain, please be aware that the silver can deposit a slight tarnish. This can be easily removed by gently buffing the chain regularly and carefully with a gold-polishing cloth.
Gentle, regular buffing with a silver-polishing cloth will help to retain the luster in your Trollbeads jewelry - a simple way to keep them clean and sparkling.
Caring for your gold and gold plated jewelry
Wash your gold jewelry in mild soap and rinse well with water. Dry thoroughly and polish with a soft cloth.
Avoid jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which might make your gold- plated jewelry tarnish more quickly. Anything plated will eventually tarnish with time and wear. Store your jewelry separately in small cloth bags, or even better in acid-free, airtight plastic bags or boxes. This will help you to avoid, as far as possible, unnecessary scratches and too rapid oxidation.
Remember that all Trollbeads silver jewelry can be custom ordered in gold. If you are interested in this service, please contact our customer service.
Caring for your glass beads
To clean glass Trollbeads we advise you gently buff with a soft lint-free cloth. Do not use any commercial cleaning products or fluids as these can contain peroxide and bleach that will damage your charm beads.
You should never swim whilst wearing your glass Trollbeads, especially in a chlorinated swimming pool. Never immerse them in hot water or seawater. This could damage the resin settings.
We recommend that you avoid contact with perfumes, creams (including hand creams), soaps, cosmetics, and hair lacquer, etc. As mentioned above, never allow your beads to be in contact with chemical detergents or bleach.
Caring for your gemstone beads
Wash your gemstones in mild soap and rinse well with water. Dry thoroughly and polish with a cloth. Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, and the like, as some stones have a porous surface and can be affected by exposure.
Gemstones are genuine natural materials and absolutely unique. They vary in color and have unique inclusions and features that show their great age and natural beauty.
Some stones are naturally softer and will have a less sharp facetted look after long use.
Caring for your pearls
Pearls are a natural material that will show a variance in color and shape.
Being a natural product, direct contact with makeup, perfume, cosmetics, hair spray and the like must be avoided. Furthermore, they must never be exposed to acidic substances such as vinegar, lemon, chlorine etc.
Wash your pearls in mild soap and rinse well with water. Dry thoroughly and polish with a soft cloth. Best way to store jewelry composed of pearls, is always separately to other jewelry and in a soft cloth bag, to avoid them from getting scratched.
Caring for your copper jewelry
You can keep your new copper jewelry clean by occasionally washing it with lukewarm, soapy water and afterwards drying it with a soft cloth.
When not being worn, store your copper jewelry in plastic bags to keep it from tarnishing. If your copper jewelry should tarnish, you can clean it using a combination of salt and vinegar. A combination of salt and vinegar reduces oxidation from copper. Simply pour a little vinegar and salt over the copper, rub it into the metal and keep rubbing to remove any tarnishing and grime. Rinse off with water and rub dry with a soft cloth.
Alternatively, you can also clean tarnish off your copper jewelry with lemon juice.
Caring for your amber beads
Amber is one of nature's wonders, a material that becomes more beautiful and unique when worn. It requires no special care. You can use a dry cloth to polish your amber if you wish to bring back the shine. Never use oil or chemical products to clean amber.
These genuine natural materials are absolutely unique. They vary in color and have unique inclusions and features that shows their great age and natural beauty.
Store your jewelry separately in small cloth bags, or even better in acid-free, airtight plastic bags or boxes. This will help you to avoid, as far as possible, unnecessary scratches.
Caring for your leather jewelry
For daily cleaning, simply wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth. Stains should be removed immediately before they soak in or dry.
Use a mild professional cleaner (without chemicals) or a mild soap such as soap flakes or saddle soap. Create suds in a bowl and apply the suds to a soft, lint-free cloth, then wipe the leather (not scrub). Afterwards, wipe the leather with a dry cloth and add a leather conditioner to protect it further. Remember to keep leather out of direct sunlight.
